NTERNATIONALLY-ACCLAIMED THENJIWE TAGS ALONG FELLOW COMEDIANS TO ESWATINI TOUR
She chose to celebrate her birthday by offering her Durban comedians a unique opportunity to perform outside of South Africa for the very first time.
Thenjiwe Moseley recently had audiences laughing heartily during her Thenjiwe Unplugged, which commenced at the Durban Playhouse and concluded at the Mbambane Theatre Club in Swaziland.
The KwaMashu native, who currently resides in the United Kingdom, crossed the border into the Kingdom of Eswatini alongside Flymotion and Thando Mseleku, both of whom had been eager to entertain an international audience for the first time.
After their performance in the neighboring country, they honored Thenjiwe for her talent and expressed their appreciation for the acknowledgment of their work by the people of Swaziland.
Similar to Thenjiwe and Trevor Noah, they also shared their dreams of reaching Europe to showcase their skills.
Thenjiwe noted that she decided to bring these comedians closer because she too started at the grassroots level, performing skits and collaborating with them during their early careers.
She highlighted the significance of their development, as she has been fortunate enough to tour countries like Scotland, where she recently delivered the highly acclaimed Mandela Effect. “I do not harbor jealousy when I see talent,” she remarked. In Swaziland, they were invited by Mdura, one of the top comedians in the country. They connected via social media and initiated their collaboration.
During the comedy event in Durban, Thenjiwe was in her element as she showcased her sharp wit through observational comedy, transforming mundane experiences into extraordinary laughter. She addressed the feelings of isolation that individuals faced during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Upon noticing young children in the audience, she asked how attendees managed to engage in intimate relationships given the limitations on close contact.
The comedian had a surprise for her audience when she wrapped up the event by inviting maskandi veteran singer Mfiliseni “Mqabulasheshe” Magubane onto the stage to perform a song titled “Thenjiwe. She paid tribute to her sponsors who made the event a resounding success.
