Dundee July 2026 delivered a spectacular showcase of tradition, competition, and culture, marking one of the most memorable editions in its history. With the theme “Elegantly African KuLit”, the event combined thrilling horse racing with dazzling fashion, drawing thousands of spectators to the Endumeni Racetrack. Now in its 21st year, the Dundee July has firmly established itself as a flagship occasion on KwaZulu-Natal’s cultural calendar. Widely regarded as South Africa’s premier traditional horse racing festival, the event is spearheaded by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Sport, Arts and Culture under MEC Mntomuhle Khawula, in partnership with the KZN Rural Horse Riding and Breeding Association, Endumeni Local Municipality, and uMzinyathi District Municipality.The prize-giving ceremony was presided over by KwaZulu-Natal’s MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Rev. Musa Zondi, alongside Premier Thamsanqa Ntuli. Together, they honoured excellence in both fashion and racing, applauding the creativity of designers and the skill of jockeys and horses who contributed to the event’s prestige. This year’s Dundee July was supported by Amathole Funerals, Hollywoodbets, Ithala, and a host of other valued stakeholders. Their backing helped attract visitors from across KwaZulu-Natal and beyond, reinforcing the event’s role as a driver of tourism and community pride.
More than 200 horses competed for a record stake of nearly R3 million, underscoring the scale and ambition of the 2026 edition. The thunder of hooves and the vibrancy of fashion combined to create an atmosphere of celebration that resonated across the province. Ultimately, Dundee July 2026 reaffirmed its reputation as a festival of sporting excellence, cultural heritage, and community spirit a true testament to KwaZulu-Natal’s enduring traditions and dynamic future.
